A delegation of social workers from South Korea visited our Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) this week to learn about financial capability and how government can help lead the way when it comes to financial literacy and empowerment.
The delegation was invited to St. Louis by Washington University’s Center for Social Development, and the OFE was their first stop on a two day visit. During their time at OFE, the delegation participated in a panel on financial capability with several OFE partners. The delegation learned about financial empowerment policies, practices and partnerships. Among the topics discussed was how to use social media to communicate with and educate stakeholders and how to teach financial literacy courses for all age levels.
Panelists included the United Way; 1st Financial Federal Credit Union; the Hon. Sharon Tyus, alderwoman of the first ward; STL Youth Jobs; Prosperity Connection; Missouri Office of Community Engagement; Justine Petersen; People’s Community Action Corporation; SLATE and STRUT (St. Louis Regional Unbanked Task Force).
Thanks to everyone who joined us for the delegation visit!
