UPDATES FROM TREASURER TISHAURA O. JONES
Thanks to our supporters, partners, and friends for attending the Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) first anniversary open house in August. The event was a success and reminder of why we work hard everyday to provide financial empowerment education and resources to the City of St. Louis and surrounding region.
As the OFE starts its second year, we have many events on the schedule. From Lunch and Learns and Credit and Money Management Workshops, to visiting elementary schools to sign College Kids up for attendance incentives, we are excited for the opportunities that this year will bring. We hope you share information about the OFE with family and friends, and consider ways that you can get involved. Click here to learn more about the OFE!
Did you know that government and nonprofit employees may qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program through the U.S. Department of Education? This was the topic at a recent presentation by The Foundation for Financial Education at the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Presentation materials may be viewed here.
RSVP for upcoming classes by calling 314-622-4700 or visiting our website. Remember classes are FREE, open to the public, and lunch is provided.

College Kids and 1st Financial Federal Credit Union hosted the first Family Savings Night of the school year. We are excited to welcome back our first grade families and meet new kindergartners! It was our largest Family Savings Night to date, with 42 families in attendance. Our first grade College Kids deposited over $500 during the event! College Kids in attendance received a $20 deposit incentive and participated in the dollar-for-dollar match bonus. Two College Kids maxed out their matching savings during the evening! The Benefits of CSAs
We are proud to partner with the 1:1 Fund on our College Kids CSA program. The 1:1 Fund recently launched a video that encompasses how CSAs can help students go to college. We are so proud to have strong partners in our CSA program! Check out the video (here).
The Office of Financial Empowerment could not be possible without unique partnerships crossing all sections of financial education, banking, nonprofit, and philanthropy. To get involved with the OFE please contact us at 314-622-4700 or email gatesL@stlouis-mo.gov.
